The Three Little Pigs materials investigation

In our science lessons this half term, Year 1 have been learning about Everday Materials. We have identified objects and their materials, hunted for different objects made from the same material and tested for magnetic materials too.

Today we completed an investigation to find the strongest material to make a house for the Three a Little Pigs. The children predicted which material they thought would be the strongest out of marshmallows, Lego blocks and wooden lolly pop sticks. In groups they built 3 houses from the different materials and together we tested the materials strength to see which house the wolf (a hairdryer!!) could not blow down. Can you tell your grown up which material was the strongest?
What a fantastic time we had!!
