Sports Leaders

At Fieldhead Carr, we have our Sports Leaders as part of our PE provision, who regularly meet to discuss any ideas regarding physical education. Sports leaders have an opportunity to share their own thoughts and opinions with the group and collectively agree on any decisions that are made.

Sports Leaders apply at the start of each academic year by writing a letter of application stating why they think they would make an excellent candidate for the job and most importantly, why they want to be one! They are then interviewed and a final selection is made.

Sports Leaders are trained at the beginning of the year to lead activities and games with children and are taught the important qualities that are needed when working with young people. During lunchtimes Sports Leaders will then lead games and ensure playtimes are inclusive for everyone and that no child is left alone with no one to play with. This role develops important values such a patience, friendship, compassion and kindness as well as building their confidence and communication skills throughout the year.

As part of their role, they are also responsible for looking after Equipment during playtimes, where they will collect and store all of our play equipment safely at the end of each lunchtime. This is an integral role to play in school as it builds up key skills in responsibility, communication, cooperation and teamwork.

This year, our Sports Leaders will also help to organise and lead events such as Sports Day and Sport Relief.
