Science in Year 5 – Making A Solar System

Today in science we were having a go at making our own version of the solar system to scale with the correct ratio of planet size and distance from the sun. We worked as a group to make the planets relative size to each other and laid them out along the playground along a strip of toilet paper to show their distance from the sun. It helped us gain an understanding of just how far from the sun Neptune and Uranus are in comparison to Mercury, Venus and Earth.
